June 10 – August 24, 2019
The Caring Cupboard provides food for children during the 11-week period of summer vacation. Each participating child in the Palmyra and Annville-Cleona School Districts will receive 5 days’ worth of breakfast and lunch to replace what they would receive in school. Those who receive free or reduced meals throughout the school year are encouraged to sign up for the program.
This summer, we are going out into the community with two satellite sites. St. Paul the Apostle Church in Annville will host the Summer Lunch Program each Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Staff and volunteers will also be at Palm City Park each Thursday through the summer from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
In the Annville-Cleona School District, 40% of its students receiving free or reduced lunches. The Caring Cupboard felt the need was great enough in this area to try to provide food to this area without the barriers of transportation. We are looking forward to serving in the community this summer!
How the program works
Once a week, parents or children can pick up their food at The Caring Cupboard or at one of the satellite sites. We will provide a list of items for that week. Parents may choose to remove any items they do not want their child to receive.
